A group of lawyers from St. Clement's take part in a Legal Clinic for Our Lady of Mercy parishioners. Our Lady of Mercy is located in Albany Park. The Chicago Legal Clinic is a not-for-profit organization which offers low cost legal services through a downtown office and full-time neighborhood offices located in the impoverished communities of South Chicago, Pilsen, Austin and Uptown.

Through its Pro Bono Program, low-income clients with meritorious civil legal problems are matched with private attorneys willing to represent them on a voluntary basis. The Pro Bono Director interviews clients, screens cases for merit and substance, and compiles detailed case summaries. The case summary is sent to a volunteer attorney who has expressed an interest in that particular area of law. If the attorney is able to accept the case, the client is instructed to make an appointment to visit the volunteer at his or her place of business - the Clinic's offices are also available for interviews. Clients are advised that they are solely responsible for any court or other costs related to their cases. Every quarter a status report is sent to the volunteer attorneys requesting a very brief update on case activity.

The Pro Bono Program provides professional liability coverage for the participating attorneys.

The Program asks that volunteers consider for acceptance one or two cases each year. In addition, or alternatively, attorneys are requested to be available for consultation in the areas of expertise.
